Terra-Villa Pottery is the home of hand-crafted terracotta and ceramic urns, pots, vases and planters, and is located in the heart of the Adelaide CBD very near to Adelaide Central Markets. Terra-Villa is also the home of sculptor, potter and artist in residence, Mark Heidenreich. Terra-Villa has become widely acclaimed for their large scale terracotta thrown forms. Many of these large beautiful forms are commissioned as landscape features in gardens, but they are also displayed in galleries and decorate private homes.
Terra-Villa has become well known in the wine making industry for crafting large clay pots known as qvevri, or amphora – which are used in traditional Georgian winemaking. The qvevri are beautiful and functional in form – and as individual as the winemaker that commissions them.
Terra-Villa is both a working pottery studio and a gallery – although it must be said that Mark is uncomfortable with the term “gallery”. Be that as it may, at Terra-Villa Pottery you can look at an eclectic and ever-changing collection of completed terracotta and ceramic artworks that will give you a new appreciation of the craft of the potter.
And should you be interested in commissioning a terracotta or ceramic artwork to celebrate a special person or event, you will find inspiration in thumbing through the vast collection of photos of completed works. You can also see further examples of Mark’s works at markheidenreich.com.au
